Due to covid I was very hesitant going into this school year. Of course there are still some worries about this school year that I have, but after the amazing training with Scott Backovitch I feel pretty confident going into this school year. The training showed me how many options we actually have to make this school year the best it could possibly be even if it’s through a screen. I feel like there will be some challenges this school year, but with our amazing leadership crew I think we will be able to come up with some great alternatives this school year. This school year I also look forward to creating, and building relationships with my leadership classmates. This will obviously be harder to accomplish because of our circumstances, but in a way this hard time may bring us together because we are all going through the same situation. There are multiple things I want to get out of this program. One of the things I want to get out of this program is professionalism. I want to learn valuable life skills and lessons. I also want to come out of this program leaving a legacy, and inspiring others to do the best they can in all they do. I want to inspire others to love, motivate, and leave their own legacy. Life is so much more than a textbook. It’s about growth, values, and striving to find your purpose and passion in life. Page 2
Be the change you want to see in the world.
This quote impacts me because our generation can have so much impact on our future. Everyone talks about how they want to see change in this world, but never do anything about it. If you want change be a leader and work for it instead of just talking about it.
A bad day is still a luxury
This quote impacts me because we only have one shot at life. Just because we are having a bad day doesn’t mean it’s a bad life. We are lucky to be living at all, so instead of complaining, change your mindset, and make your day better. You are lucky to be alive and you don’t know how much longer you will have, so make the most out of your life.
If you don’t let the past die, it won’t let you live
This quote impacts me because I tend to hold onto the past a lot. If you hold onto the things in the past it will stop you from pursuing things in the future. Whether you made a mistake and won’t try something again because you are afraid to fail, or someone who hurt you and you still hold onto it. When you think about those things you can’t be happy and live your life because you are focusing on the negative. So let go of your past and be happy in your future.

Two goals I have for leadership are to stay in leadership all four years of high school. I want to have the opportunity to stay in leadership all four years of high school. I want to do this because it’s a great way to stay involved, and I want to continue to be in this leadership family. Leadership has already taught me so much and I can only imagine what else it will bring to me if I continue for another 3 years. Another goal I have for leadership is to maintain an A in this class for as long as I am in the class. I want to work as hard as I can and be a positive role model. I want to turn all my work in on time and turn in my best work.
A short term goal I have is to maintain a 3.7 and higher this whole school year. I want to turn in
all my work on time and put full effort into every assignment. I want to be more productive and on task with my work.
Another short term goal I have is to become more active and productive with my days. Ever since corona I find myself being lazy and just laying in bed all day. I want to work on waking up early, and doing productive things. I want to stay on task and do my work as soon as it is assigned rather than procrastinating.
A long term goal I have for myself is to attend at least a four year college. I want to end high school with straight As and like I said before put my best effort in. As of right I would like to attend the University of Hawaii for four years.
Another long term goal I have for my future is to be as successful as possible, and make a positive impact on people. I want to inspire people inside and outside of highschool, and college. I want to lead others and I want people to look up to me. I want to leave every room making people happy and smiling.
Ava Keast is a freshman at Ripon High School who has many dreams and goals. She sets high standards for herself and hopes to meet all her future goals. She hopes to attend a four year college and as of right now attend The University of Hawaii. She isn’t sure what she wants to do in her future yet, but she wants to be something big and be as successful as possible. Ava wants to make a difference in this world. She wants to be a positive role model for everyone and wants to make everyone smile. Ava dreams of making a huge impact on this world; she wants to lead others and be the type of person anyone could ask for help from. She hopes to maintain a 3.5 gpa or higher her whole highschool experience. Ava wants to be as successful as possible all throughout high school, college, and the rest of her life. She wants to stay involved all through high school and make a huge impact at Ripon High. When she grows up she wants to help others in any way possible. She wants to help the less fortunate, and be involved in humane programs.
Ava wants to have a family, and ever since she was little she has wanted to adopt, so a dream of hers is to adopt two kids in need. She wants to provide a stable home for them, and give them everything they need in life.

9. There are several people who have made an impact on my life. One person who has made the biggest impact on my life though would simply be my mom. Whether it’s advice on friendships, or teaching me how to treat others my mom has made such a huge impact on my life. Not only does my mom tell me how to treat others, and how to treat myself, but my mom also sets an example by caring, respecting, and loving others so greatly. My mom is always there for me whenever I need it, she cheers me up when I am down, and gives the best advice. She teaches me self worth, and to love myself unconditionally. She teaches me how to put others before myself, and how to treat others. I owe all my values and self love to my mom. Thank you mom for making me who I am.
10. While thinking about this several animals went through my head, but after looking at some of the meanings of different animals I think the animal that represents me most is a butterfly. Butterflies represent transformation and growth. Throughout my life I have grown a lot. I used to focus so much about others' opinions on me, and of course there are always times where I find myself doing so, but I have definitely grown to learn that no one's judgment about me really matters, especially in high school. I have to embrace who I am and if people don’t like me for who I am it’s not my problem, because I only live one and people's opinions don’t need to dictate this life that I only have one shot at. Butterflies also represent Moving through different life cycles. There are several things in my life that have happened where I have had to adapt and deal with it. I had to trust the process and grow through the cycle. For example, in February my brother who was an addict fell off of a truck and almost died. Because he was an addict he had already caused a lot of trauma in my life. He was seconds away from dying, but thankfully he made it. He was in the hospital for three months and had to learn how to, walk, talk, eat, breath, and had to relearn several other things. My parents were with him 24/7. With this being said I was home alone A lot. I had to adapt to this situation and kind of take care of myself for a while. There was a lot of hate that I had toward my brother because of his past, and it was hard to accept that he wasn’t the same person as before. I had to quickly adapt and realize that he was a new person and I had to forgive him even though it was hard. My brother and I now have a super close relationship, and we are best friends. Finally, the butterfly represents finding joy in life. From this example that I used, during this time I had to find joy in my life. Even though I was going through a lot I found Joy in the good things that came out of his accident. For all these reasons I feel that I greatly represent a butterfly.

There were many things I enjoyed about homecoming this year with Covid. I loved that there was a lot of participation from fellow classmates this year since everyone was excited to participate because we missed so much from Covid. I also enjoyed being able to bond with my fellow classmates in leadership.

A quote that I feel represents me is “Great Leaders don’t set out to be a leader, they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role-always about the goal.” I feel that this quote represents me as a leader because I want to be there for other people and change Ripon High, and I want to do this because I want to see other people happy not because I want to be congratulated or get some kind of recognition for it. Although that may be nice and as humans we would love to be noticed and recognized, but I know that it’s a greater feeling to do something without recognition rather than doing something for the acknowledgement.

One of my goals that I talked about at the beginning of the year was how I wanted to stay in leadership all four year of high school. Obviously I haven’t been able to accomplish that goal yet because I haven’t finished all four years of high school yet, but I do know that I got into the leadership program for next year's school year. Which means I am definitely taking a step in the right direction. I’m not sure what the other two years will hold, but I’m thankful that I got into leadership again. Another goal I had made for this class was to put in my best effort and try to maintain an A. Unfortunately, my grade is actually struggling in this class right now. Ultimately this is my fault and I don’t want to make up excuses. I think the reason my grade went down though was because I would completely forget about turning in my journal on monday since we don’t have
leadership on Mondays. This isn’t an excuse and it’s something I am really trying to get better at and I’m fixing this problem by setting reminders every sunday night so I turn them in on Sunday rather than Monday. I am extremely determined to get my grade up because all my other grades are pretty good. Although I can’t make up any work so it’s definitely going to be difficult I am still going to put my best foot forward. Another goal I had was to maintain a 3.0, and right now my gpa is currently a 3.19 so I have been achieving this goal and I’m really proud of myself because sometimes math, english etc. doesn’t come very easy. Another goal I created for myself was to start waking up early and being productive with my day rather than staying in bed all day. When I created this goal I was still on distance learning which makes a lot of sense for this goal, but now I am in person school so I am forced to wake up early and I am forced to be productive with my day which I am very happy about. So I have definitely been achieving this goal and it feels really good to be productive. My two last goals were to attend a four year college and to be as successful as I can when I graduate high school. Obviously I am unable to accomplish these goals right now because I am still a freshman and I have three more years until I can accomplish these goals. Overall I am very proud of myself for the goals I have accomplished and for where I am today. There are still plenty of goals that I still need to work on and accomplish but I am still proud of myself.
