ASB Formal Report
As one of the Freshman Representatives at Ripon High we have been able to accomplish a few things. We were able to participate in our class t-shirt sales; where we were able to design, organize, and distribute our freshman class t-shirts. We did this by coming up with a design and creating our own freshman t-shirts. After designing the shirts we promoted them on social media and made a commercial about them. After all the purchases were made we then went through and organized who bought what and what sized they ordered. Finally, we had a drive thru pick up to distribute our t-shirts where I was able to hand out the t-shirts to some of my fellow classmates. Another thing that we have done is come up with fall fest themes and activity ideas. We came up with several dress up day ideas on zooms inside and outside of class. We had several discussions in group chats and facetime calls talking about our ideas. My fellow freshman representatives and I came up with sweater weather for our spirit day where everyone will wear a sweater to school representing fall. As an individual I have been able to create several instagram posts. I did this by finding pictures of some of my fellow classmates editing them and making them look neat then asking these classmates if they would be okay if we posted these pictures. If they said yes we would proceed to post these photos. I love editing pictures so I was excited to take on this opportunity.
There are obviously some things that still have to be accomplished especially due to covid. Some examples would be being able to connect on person levels with our classmates. Obviously there are things we could virtually do, but we still need to work on gaining our fellow classmates' trust like we talked about with Scott, and being able to connect and interact with them on personal levels. There are also some things for fall fest that we still need to accomplish. We need to start thinking of ways to promote fall
fest on our social media platforms, and thinking about how we are going to decorate and inspire our classmates to feel excited about fall fest.
Leadership has already helped me a lot with professional development. In a professional setting you need to be on time, interactive, and be a positive role model to the people around you. Leadership has helped me with these skills by making me hold myself accountable if I don’t turn things in on time and if I am not interactive or participating. I hold myself accountable by knowing that there will be consequences if I don’t do these things. Leadership has helped me become more of a positive role model by helping me understand to treat people the way I want to be treated. In leadership I have been able to put thoughts in my head into words. I have learned that being a leader means making this world a better place, and by doing so I have to treat others with kindness and compassion.
A concern I may have for this upcoming school year is being able to motivate people to participate. Due to Corona everyone has felt a lack of motivation and they seem to try to take the easy way out. I am scared that people won’t want to participate because they are too lazy or they don’t see the point. After our training with Scott I feel a lot of hope for this problem. I know we have a really creative group of students and we will definitely be able to come up with something to inspire our classmates to show school spirit, and to become involved.
I feel like I am working on being a change in this world, and being able to be a positive role model to my classmates. I am maintaining to stay positive by remembering our core principles. For example, a growth mindset, I stay open minded to others opinions and when I do this I grow. Growing is about listening to others inputs and growing off of other knowledge, but also remembering your beliefs and standing strong in what you believe in, but being able to listen to other people's ideas and growing through that. I also remember to expect the unexpected and remember that not everything is going to go the way I want it to and that is okay. When things don’t go your way all you have to do is stay positive and think of a new solution. I stay open to change and remember that change is a good thing. When things change it might be hard at first, but through it you grow and become a more educated and open minded person. And finally, I stay organized by setting goals for myself. I remember if I stay organized I won’t be stressed. By doing things I will become happier with myself and spread my happiness to others. When I spread my positivity and happiness to others I quickly become the change in the world.
